Located on the Mosel River in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany, Cochem is a delightful traditional town with half-timbered houses in an exceptionally scenic part of Germany. Many visitors make use of Cochem Hotels to experience the charm and picturesque beauty of this small town nestled at the foot of a hill. Surrounded by a feudal castle, steep vineyards and typical wine villages, legends, folklore and a rich web of history is woven into streets and buildings. Guests to Cochem Hotels will be able to experience this first hand as many of the traditions, festivals and genuine hospitality has been handed down through the centuries.

In a town where little has changed over the centuries, the town square is still an important meeting place with many fine buildings, quaint cottages and black and tan guild houses along winding streets. Cochem is the center of the Mosel wine trade and due to the presence of many vineyards and small family run wineries, its popularity as a tourist town has increased in recent years. The first real tourists were English artists who capture the romance of the valley in oils and water colors but tourist interest really only started in the 1930's. Cochem experiences an almost Mediterranean climate with warm sunny days for over nine months of the year making it a perfect place for tourists all year round.

The Mosel River runs between the main town and Cond district and the two are linked by a couple of bridges. A number of river-view Cochem Hotels line the wide boulevard than runs along the river providing many restaurants, bars and seating areas. River tours are available from this point.

The closest airports for guests to Cochem Hotels are Cologne/Bonn which is 90km away or Frankfurt airport a little further. The train station is in the center of town from where frequent buses will take guests anywhere along the river while river boats are also available.

Getting around in town is easy as Cochem Hotels offer easy access to the entire town and everything is within walking distance. Trolley tours, bicycle rental and buses are also popular forms of transport.

Popular events and festivals take place from May to November and include wine tasting events, the castle festival, Easter and Christmas markets and wine cellar tours. Bike paths, hiking in the hills and walking along the flower filled promenade are some activities for guests at Cochem Hotels to enjoy. Cond, across the river provides a large shopping center and terraced restaurants where guests can sit and admire the view. Sehl has a small historic village atmosphere in short walking distance along the boulevard while Ebernach cloister and winery is well worth a visit.

There are many three-star Cochem Hotels situated along the Boulevard that provide panoramic views of Cochem Castle and the Mosel River. Many of these are family owned and provide genuine Mosel hospitality. The Alte Thorschenke Hotel is a medieval hotel, restaurant and wine tavern that forms part of Cochem's Old Town wall and gate and offers a unique historic ambience.
